UIUC has a very well-respected program.

top 5 i believe. you won’t have problems landing a big 4 gig provided that you are socially competent

It’s number two in the nation for accounting last time I checked. As long as your gpa is decent you won’t have trouble getting into a big 4.

The Big four recruit more UIUC accountants than any other school in the world.

A few points that may help:

UIUC has traditionally been ranked the #1 Accountancy program in the nation. This year it was #2, (UT Austin was #1) but variances year to year exist. Regardless, it is widely considered the top for Undergrad Accountancy.

More Big 4 partners come from UIUC than any school in the world.

As far as investment banks go, I pursued a dual degree in Accountancy (#1/2) and Finance (top-10), and landed the following IB interviews: GS, Bear Stearns, Citi, Blair, Baird, FPK CCW, and a few boutiques.

UIUC is also more rigorous in terms of admissions; the College of Business (Undergrad) had a middle 50% ACT composite from 29 - 32. Compare that to any other public university and you will notice sourcing is stringent to say the least.

Illinois is a top accounting school, no doubt. But UIUC-Consultant, I am not sure where you got that UIUC is traditionally ranked number one in the nation. According to the Public Accounting Report rankings, UT-Austin has been ranked number one in both undergraduate and masters level accounting programs every year since 2000. This year it slipped in the masters to number 3, while maintaining the number one rank for undergrad. If any school is traditionally number one, it is UT-Austin.

OP – the University of Illinois will set you up beautifully for big four if that is your goal.

I screwed the format up above and can’t fix it. Sorry, I know it is annoying.
