I have recently finished all my apps for everywhere I am applying, but I am starting to contemplate applying to UM. I am applying to a University ED, so I really don't feel like dealing with another app. until I hear back(because I will have to withdraw it anyways). So, if I applied to UM in January, would my chances be hurt that much???

Your chances would be hurt...but if you are a top student (top 5%, 1500+ SAT and 4.0 GPA), you would still have a reasonable chance.

Om...I have all that(minus the 1500).

Can I just not do the teacher recs??? That's such a pain! How many do they require?

If you are in the top 5% of your class and have a 4.0 GPA, even an SAT score of 1400+ would be enough...but your chances will not be great no matter what. Once November is over, Michigan becomes very difficult to get into.

As for recommendations, I don't recall if Michigan even requires formal recommendations. If memory serves, Michigan asks your school to rate your academic abilities and potential on a "Superior" - "Poor" scale. They used to ask for "Academic Selection", "Academic Preparation", "Academic Motivation", "Extracurricular Involvement" and "Character". I do not know if they now require formal recommendations or if they still only require official transripts and the rating of your academic abilities.

OK-thanks. I only have a 28 ACT, so I will probably not get in, but I at least want to apply. I think I am just not going to deal with the teacher recs
