Well, exactly the question posted. How liberal is penn?

More left than the population as a whole but further right than many colleges.

I don't know about the assertion that we're further right than many colleges... Based on both the campus environment and the 2004 election results, I find it hard to believe we're more conservative than most colleges. I wouldn't say we're one of the extreme liberal campuses, but certainly on the liberal end of things.

A lot of Penn consists of old money families... there's a fair amount of republican presence

I am very conservative, and my opinion is the only one that really matters.

Whoa, time to slightly reconsider my gushing enthusiasm for Penn based on a largely subjective and incomplete dataset for a particular criterion which is distorted in importance to me personally... :|

no, seriously. worrisome!

Not until you're as smart as our dear president will your opinion really matter. But of course he's not conservative like you..

What's the split for the different campus political publications?

You people need to get over yourselves. If you're not open-minded enough to go to a school that doesn't share your political beliefs, you shouldn't be going to college. With the exception of a few places in the US (New College in Florida, Pat Roberton's place wherever that is), no college is so extreme that people will shun you because of your political beliefs.

lol Pat Robertson's got a place now? oh crap.

shouldn't we be open-minded about closed minded people as well? ;)

Yeah, I'll be willing to listen to any ideas on sending them all to Mars.

I realized later today--or at least I will assume this to be true--that Wharton could account for a lot of that. It makes sense to me, at least. Evidence behind my hypothesis?

username, don't worry, I hold myself to that open-mindedness standard... in some form, at least. I have a range of comfort.

I'd agree that it definitely has a liberal lean to it, but the people aren't so hardcore that you'll get verbally attacked for expressing more conservative views. People tend to be well-informed, though, which is nice; even if you don't agree with the person, at least you know they have reasons behind their opinions.
