As you kind of hint at, it would be somewhat of a stretch to get accepted at WPI. There is a document that most schools publish called the “common data set” ( http://www.wpi.edu/Images/CMS/IRO/WPI_CDS_2013-2014(1).pdf ). It contains all kinds of data about the school including admissions data. Your SAT math is around the 75th percentile but the other 2 scores are more like WPI’s 25th percentile. It also states that GPA and rigor of your high school are the most important items. I don’t know how your 91 GPA translates to a 4.0 scale but the average GPA for WPI’s freshman class was 3.9.

Do well our senior year. It will get your GPA up and an improving GPA shows that you are handling the harder material and maturing as a student. All good things.

Ask your HS counselor is there have been any recent grads that have gone onto WPI. You can compare yourself to them. Ask your counselor how your HS compares as far as academic rigor. They should know.

You do need to pick it up in the numbers game (GPA, SAT) but don’t get wrapped up too much about the detail numbers. Most schools will have a minimum level they want to see and after that it doesn’t matter what the actual number is. What they are trying to get a feel for is “can you do the work?” Once they satisfy themselves that you can, it is all the other stuff that then makes the difference. Community service is good, so is work experience. But don’t spread yourself too thin that you can’t get the numbers up.
