Hey guys. I'm filling out the Housing Contract right now, and I've decided that my top choice is East Lothian. I've heard that it's the 2nd nicest hall at UCR and it's also a social dorm. However, on the housing contract, it only gives us the option to choose "Lothian", so we can't pick between East and West Lothian. If I submit the contract by tomorrow, do I have a chance at being placed into E-Lo? I REALLY don't want to dorm in West Lothian because I've heard it's much worse than East Lothian, Pentland, and AI. Is it difficult to be placed into E-Lo?

It’s done at random so we can’t really tell you your chances. West Lothian isn’t that bad, it’s just that it isn’t as great in comparison to the other dorms. If you get placed there, I promise that it won’t be the end of the world and that you’ll most likely end up enjoying it.

Also, your username just freaked me out. 1995 (I’m assuming this is when you were born) makes me feel ridiculously old.

I wouldnt want to take the chance, so ima try for a triple or double at AI to get that traditional college experience. West might not be that bad but its a risk i guess

West Lo isn’t as bad as people make it out to seem. It’s gotten renovated a little since I was there. If anything, you’re able to meet more people because A and B halls are connected so you meet more than just the people in your hall. And the doors stay open, unlike in East Lo.

If you want to increase your chances for East Lo, try applying for the special major dorms. I know the CHASS, CNAS, and BCOE special halls are either Pentland or EastLo. But still there is a chance.
