How likely is a California Community College transfer likely to get into UCSD, UCLA, or UCB?

My senior grades are falling and I can’t really keep track of them. I want to go to UCSD, but I have fears that that won’t happen. One option I keep hearing about is going to a California community college for two years and transfer. How likely is a transfer applicant likely to get accepted by the aforementioned three schools? I intend to be a Bio major and pursue an MD after that.

You’ll most likely be surprised, as I was, that getting into UCSD as a transfer is a lot easier than as a first-time freshman.

If UCSD is where you want to go, community college is the way to get there. Don’t give up and don’t settle. You’ll save money and you’ll probably do a lot better at CC than in high school. You can become a very competitive applicant this way.

another UC data table you may find handy - choose the Transfer tabs on the right and you’ll be able to see how many successful applicants your CC had and the GPA range of those admitted. Honestly, the odds are against you with admit rates in the 20s for most majors, so if you go that way, be sure to use TAG for a guaranteed slot someplace like Davis

I’d also say, Sr grades can drop off pretty significantly and you’ll still be OK.

Good luck
