ohh dang…
i did get the impression that she was new to the team, so I suppose she got the years mixed up or something.

i know that next year a dorm that is usually sophomore will be freshman (the only other time it was freshman was for class of 2014 which is overenrolled). i originally heard this was because the school was planning to start constructing on one of the traditional dorms however i talked to my RA who works in the admissions office and he said that the construction on that dorm won’t start for another year. so it seems likely that WashU is planning on another highly enrolled class meaning they may not take that many off the waitlist

They’re renovating part of Ruby which is why Rutledge is becoming a freshman dorm for next year. Still expect ~1500 in '16.

^ yeah, that is what I heard while visiting.

Tomorrow is May 1. If anyone has ANY information regarding whether or not WashU will use the waitlist or if anyone is accepted off the waitlist, let us know!

Lot of schools have started pulling ppl off the waitlist. Anyone for WUSTL?

The admissions officer I talked to said that they do not alert prospective students on the waitlist in waves; they go through all the applications, fill in all their spaces, call, and repeat if there are any declines.

@achievingdream, what schools are you referring to?

There’s another thread where people are posting the schools accepting off the waitlist. Here’s the link. Wash U has not been mentioned yet.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/1331723-2012-wait-list-decisions-please-add-everyones-benefit-2.html

@amatore

Some of my friends told me Rice, Duke, UVA, Cal started pulling ppl off.

@achievingdream is correct…I had a friend get off the UVA waitlist literally 7 minutes ago. This is unnerving!

I just found someone who said that she got off the waitlist at Wash U… although she does not plan to enroll

Are they really talking kids of the waiting list? I REALLY want to attend Wash U - and I called a rep today and she said that they haven’t finished evaluating yet but “right now, their freshman class is looking full and they’re not sure what that means for the waiting list” Does this mean we have no chance?

There was an over enrollment in engineering, and general yield was higher than expected. If the wait list is used, it’ll be smaller than last years.

I think that CMA2012 might be mistaken. They’ve only posted twice- once on this thread and once on the overall CC wait list thread- so I kind of questioned the validity of this when I first saw it. I think there is still a chance though; there could have been students who accepted a spot at WUSTL and now are getting off the wait list at another school and they may give up their WUSTL spot (like you may do if you got the call that you got off the wait list at WUSTL) so don’t give up and be the squeaky wheel :-)! Good Luck!

Thanks for the encouragement! Yeah, for some reason, I kinda feel like they might just be instructed to say that - and I think there might be a few spots still open (although certainly not as much as last year’s)

Also, I was just wondering - for the waitlist - even though they overenrolled for engineering - it doesn’t necessarily mean anything for people who didn’t apply for engineering right? I applied as a bio major - so they would just see how many more people they need for bio right?

No. They’re not looking for bio majors, they’re looking for non-engineers.

The reality is that they’re only taking a handful of people from the waitlist and they have thousands to choose from. The odds of getting in off the waitlist at this point are much, much smaller than the odds of being accepted in the first place. Hence why getting one’s hopes up after being waitlisted is unwise…

yeah…so depressed. their class is now full.
so i guess i’m going to case western reserve…

Parent volunteer here, just received this email dated 5/16/2012 which says:

"Wait List Update

With a freshman class that was very full by the beginning of May, waitlisted students were notified recently that no additional students can be admitted to the fall 2012 freshman class."
