How likely will I be to make it into Hillsdale?

“My goal in life is to change the entire structure.”

While you’re at it, cure the common cold.

Good luck w/ your apps.

Wow, you think there is some pent-up anger here?

“I’m actually great at destroying people’s self-confidence and reputations while being honest.”

“I view myself as one of a few thinkers rebelling against a country and a world of completely [sic] irrationality and idiocy. My goal in life is to change the entire structure.”

As to the first comment, all I can ask is why you might want to do this? I’m not sure these abilities fit the Hillsdale mission statement (did you read it?).

Now for the second, when you get to Hillsdale, of course you’ll take the course on the Constitution, take Western Heritage, take the Rhetoric and Great Books courses, all of which are required. Then you can tell me again which irrational and idiotic parts of society/government/high school you want to change.

As far as my “conformist pig” ideas, you will find very few people on this forum who are less conformist in their ideas about education. For example, we are long-time UNSCHOOLERS, not just homeschoolers, which hardly puts me in anyone’s idea of “conformist.” I’ll leave the pig statement to history.

I wish you success at Hillsdale or wherever else you wind up in higher education.

Lewis let us know how it turns out for you.

Fencersmom: I never said I want to destroy people’s self-confidence, I said I can. I know this from back when I was pretty liberal and I hated people so I waged war sort of against them. Just because I can doesn’t mean I want to. And yes, the ability to manipulate fits in perfectly with learning to govern. The best governor is the best manipulator.

You’re obviously not very conservative if you don’t want to change things about gov/society/high school. Our government is bloated, tyrannical, and some of our laws are legislated by judges. Our society is going down the hell-hole, becoming more and more promiscuous and socially liberal. High schools are failing their students. Now why would anyone EVER want to change any of that?

I’ve already taken an equivalent of the Western History class for AP credit but the rest I probably would want to take anyways. I’m not anti-Western. In fact, I am extremely proud of the West. We’ve been responsible for all civilization and schools of thought. The rest of the world has been leeches sucking off of the USA & Europe.

Dave- Who would I have anger against? Even Fencersmom I’m not mad at, once she explained she wasn’t trying to be insulting.

Western History =/= Heritage.

Aristotle believed one should not philosophize until age 30. Before him, Socrates had much the same fears about the ignorant abuse of dialogue / philosophy by the young. I don’t know if you’ll read this in Heritage, but in the event you do I hope it actually sinks in by the time you graduate / reach age 22.

You will not be able to use equivalent credits for Western Heritage, Rhetoric/Great Books, or the Constitution at Hillsdale, no matter where you’ve taken it, or what grade you earned. They are required and every student must take them. Hillsdale might, at its discretion, give transfer credit for such subjects as Psychology, Sociology, assorted Math, and other subjects, but not, ever, for Western Heritage, Rhetoric/GB, or Constitution.

I’m sorry but here’s a start: Don’t say things like “guesstimate”.
