I will consult my advisor before making any decisions but I just was curious if any one knows the answer. So I’m currently a junior in my college. Over this summer I was supposed to take Microbio2000 and its lab. I was only able to take the lecture portion. I would have taken the lab but the cost of the 2 classes was too much, plus I returned home for a job. I was just planning on commuting back for the lab which would have been an hour drive but the lab was twice a week, 4 hours long, conflicted with my work, so it just wasn’t realistic. I contacted my advisor about taking the lab in the fall and she said that was fine and I got a spot. However, this fall in going to be on an academic team that will be traveling a lot. I got our competition schedule and I’m just concerned about how many labs I will miss and if I would be able to make all of them up, and of course how it would impact my grade. So I’m thinking about asking if I could push my lab back until the spring semester as long as it wouldn’t impact my abilities to take certain classes for my major, which I think it won’t. I’m not as concerned about my other classes since they’re more your typical lecture classes. I will be done with my team activities by then so I won’t have any conflicts. I still have memories of Chem lab and I remember how aggravating those were to attend and make up and I worried MCB will be the same. So is there a limit of time that you have to take the lab after taking the lecture(like a semester) before you have to retake the lecture and lab together? Or is there no limit? Again I will ask my advisor to make sure.
