Hello all.
I'm thinking about self studying Ap Bio starting mid January (a few days from now)
Do you think it's possible (will I have enough time for the upcoming test)?????
How long did it take you guys to self study??
Did you use only use a prep book, or an actual text book?

I have the same question, I’m a grade 9 student looking to self study for the AP exams since my school only offers 5 (I live in Canada). Hopefully this will increase the chances of a response :)

I have the same question. bump

I self-studied AP Calculus AB and Music Theory last year, so this may not help much. However, I studied Calc on and off, not really covering anything big until January, and then only really focusing on it from the end of March up to the exam. Music Theory was easy for me, since a lot of the test was aurally based and I have perfect pitch, and I’ve done music all my life. That being said, I really only studied that one in April and May. I got 5’s on both.

I wouldn’t recommend self-studying AP Bio this year if you can. The format is being changed, so no one knows what to expect. The best review book (I’ve heard) is Cliffs, but it won’t be released until April, and from what I hear, no other publisher has plans to release a new book updated for the new exam. I’m taking the class at my school, and my teacher still doesn’t know what exactly the test will look like.

Overall, don’t do AP Bio this year if you can. You could maybe learn enough of it to pass, but no one even knows what the test is like.

Can anyone answer in terms of time, as in when to start (9 months before?) and how many hours per week? Should you work on prep books for most of the time, or be reading an AP textbook?
