I’m trying to plan ahead my college classes and the time and workload that will be put into it but do not know how long it will be placed out
See how many credits you can take at your college to be full time but not have an overload each term. That will give you your answer.
At many universities 12 to 15 credits per semester is normal. This would suggest 4 semesters. However, there may be other issues such as courses that have specific prerequisites, or required courses that are not offered every semester.
I think that you will need to talk with a specific department at a specific school and see what makes sense in your case.
4 semesters so 2 full years. However, since one of those semesters could be 8 units, you could do a summer semester. That’s what I’d do.
