How long does it take to receive transfer decision from UF?

I am a high school senior and I am earning my AA degree before graduation, so when I applied to UF as a freshman and was not admitted, I was given the option to opt-in as a transfer student with my AA. I applied a couple days ago and am wondering how long it usually takes for UF to release transfer decisions. Thanks!

check your transfer checklist to see if all of your college transcripts have been received. After that it depends on which major you opted in for your transfer review.

@Melissa96 is it competitive to get into the Microbiology and Cell Science program as a transfer?

It isn’t the most competitive science program from an admissions perspective.

Complete MAC 2311, CHM 2045 w/ lab, CHM 2046 w/ lab, BSC 2010 w/ lab, and BSC 2011 w/ lab. Must typically have a minimum 2.5 overall GPA to be competitive. Must typically have a minimum 2.5 GPA on all attempts of these courses to be competitive.

I have a 3.8 overall gpa however I’ve taken all those classes except chem 2 which I’m currently taking and will complete this semester . But I still have not heard anything just that my application has been received.

Update : I got accepted

@Melissa96 i applied in February to transfer as a psych major and I still haven’t heard back. I will have my AA by the end of the summer and have a 4.0 at my current school. Is it competitive to get into the psych program and do you think I would have a decent chance?

Psychology is definitely competitive yes, when did you get all of your transcripts in?

I’ve been watching DD’s transfer application page for a few weeks. Last activity 3/27 (when I called admissions to see if all was good) - transcripts under review.

I guess every case is different. DD passed the BFA dance audition but wasn’t admitted as a freshman - she’s HS/AA, so she entered the transfer path.

My guess is the the college is waiting to see if other dancers accept prior to posting a decision. Fingers crossed.

@Melissa96 They received my last transcript on March 15. I also took BSC 1005 because that is what biology students take at my school if they are not a biology major. Do you think this will affect my decision since it is not necessarily cell biology?

For general psychology BSC 1005 is fine. If you applied to cognitive & neuroscience in Psychology, the Biology class needs to be 2010.

@Melissa96
I am a freshman at USF who is applying as a transfer student in CLAS for Political Science to UF, so for the first semester I was stupid and I took too many classes and the Stats class which was a prereq I got a C and my overall GPA was a 2.83 but this semester I’m doing much better like the two prereqs I’m taking rn I have A in one and an A- in another and I can bring my GPA over a 3 and overall a 3.23 with my prereq GPA to a 3.4 and if I get an A over the summer in my prereq will b a 3.62 and same with my overall GPA and I’ve been volunteering and doing Poli Sci research do u think I’ll have a good chance getting in as a transfer?
Thank you in advance from a hopeful student

Yes, bringing up your GPA is definitely important. You also need t have at least 60 transferable credits and be ready to start your junior year.

@Melissa96 so this semester I did much better in terms of grades, as I brought my overall GPA up to a 3.22 and my pre-req GPA up to a 3.15, as well as signed up to finish my 60 credits, in addition, I completed more internships, volunteering, and doing research for Poli Sci, so in your opinion do I have a decent chance of being accepted?

How are you doing with your prerequisite courses?

Complete STA 2023 and 3 Political Science courses from: POS 2041, INR 2001, CPO 2001 or POT 2002. Must typically have a minimum 2.5 overall GPA to be competitive. Must typically have a minimum 2.5 GPA on all attempts of these courses to be competitive.

In my first semester I got a C in Stats but for 2nd semester I took POS 2041 and I got an A and CPO 2001 and got a B+ and I’m taking INR 2001 during the summer

@Melissa96 ^ srry I forgot to tag you in the message

I miscalculated the pre-req since it was a B+ and not an A- it would make my pre-req GPA a 3.1 and my overall a 3.18

R u there… @Melissa96 ?

Update: I was accepted today!!!
