Transferring from UCF to UF

Hey everyone,
I’m a first year at UCF and I’m hoping to transfer to UF for the 2018 fall term. I mostly picked UCF because of a one semester scholarship I received, but obviously now that’s run out and I’m really starting to feel like this school was a bad fit for me. In high school I really wanted to attend UF, and I now see that there are a lot more opportunities there for me as a biology major. I also wouldn’t mind being closer to home (my family is in Jacksonville and being that much closer would make a big difference for me.)

Are any of you familiar with UF’s transfer process? I’m especially curious about how I’ll be affected by the fact that I am applying as a non-AA degree transfer, since I’ve heard that UF prioritizes applicants from Florida state colleges. I will have completed over 60 credits so I qualify to transfer, and by Fall I’ll have completed all the requirements for the bio major. I have a 3.85 GPA. Based off what I’ve read on the admissions site I should be very competitive, but I am unsure if it’s even worth it to apply if community college students get priority to the already limited amount of spaces.

Also, if any of you are transfers at UF or if you know anyone who is, how do they like it and what is the experience like? I would greatly appreciate any thoughts/anecdotes/advice.

Finally, if anyone has applied as a transfer to UF in the past, when did you get your decision? Different parts of UF’s transfer materials say different things. A transfer adviser’s voicemail in the bio major said that decisions are made about three weeks after the admissions office refers the application to them, but I’ve also seen it written that decisions are made after the April first deadline. Even then, how long does it take them to announce decisions? If you transferred, do you remember how long it took for the decision to get back to you?

This question is more geared towards UF students or people who know a lot about UF admissions, but I’d be thrilled to get general transfer advice from anyone.

You need your AA degree to transfer to UF.

@Trisherella their website says that you can transfer if you and an AA degree or if you have at least 60 credits from a four year institution. So I should be able to. I just don’t know to what extent I’ll be impacted if they actually prioritize applicants from Florida State Colleges.
