My DS put in his app about a month ago for Barrett’s. For those of you already accepted how long did it take for you to get the notice that you were in.? Has anyone here applied and not been accepted? Keeping my fingers crossed… he really wants to do the honors program.

When my DD was accepted last year it took a while. We didn’t find out until @ February. Remember that you have to be accepted into ASU first before BHC will consider your application. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. Luckily he was already accepted into ASU so we are just waiting for Barrett’s to do their part now. Hope they decide soon!

Bandie mom, when did DD submit their app (November, December, etc.)?

Also, they say it’s supposed to take six to eight weeks to get admitted/rejected this year, which means I should hear about my mid-November app in January. Does anyone think I might find out earlier?? I’m so anxious, I absolutely love Barrett and it’s my first choice.

P.S. I was accepted to ASU before I submitted my app so that shouldn’t inhibit anything.

I submitted mine at the very beginning of november and just got accepted friday!!! I’m so excited!

Too funny - started this thread yesterday and my DS’s letter just came today - he was accepted! Woo Hoo! So glurgglurg it looks like it takes about a month to get a reply. He turned his app in on November 5th. Good luck to all applying to Barrett’s - it is a wonderful program.

Thanks so much for the response! I’m so excited :D

EDIT: p.s. just got my acceptance letter from the mailbox two seconds ago! it only took three weeks to get a response!

^ Congrats to you all! My acceptance 4 years ago took the maximum 6 weeks. I asked the Dean once and he said the application process worked like this: They receive the application, and the definite acceptances are informed very fast (national merit, very high gpa/test scores, etc). Then, there are the maybes and definite no’s. The maybe’s are looked at further, and the essays and EC’s are weighted more heavily at this point. Luckily, I didn’t have the perfect GPA/test scores, but my essay/EC’s pushed me through (a friend of mine with literally the exact same scores and GPA was not accepted, yet he confessed his EC’s and essays weren’t anything spectacular) and I found out pretty late because it took a little extra scanning.

So, hope that helps anyone else who is worried. They may just be taking a little more time to make sure you’re the best fit!
