I know there are two government classes and sometimes they are taught back to back. It's a new class for my school next year, so I'm not sure how they're going to do it. I really hope it's a year long because the teacher is the best. Do most schools who teach AP US Gov make it a full year or a semester? Seems like it should be a full year to me. Normal Govt at our school is a semester, so shouldn't AP Govt expand on that? How is it at your school, or how long is it typically? I'm getting a little worried it will only be a semester :( I guess the only way to find out is ask the teacher or wait until we schedule.

No. It is a one semester class.

I’ve read some people who have it a full year though.

It depends. It is a one semester college course. However, many high schools DO have it for a full year. Mine offered it (only) for a full year. It was probably because it was only offered to seniors, and seniors were everywhere except for class like half of the time. We were not offered both Comp and American. We only had AP US GOPO.

At my school it was a full year when my brother took it (2 years ago) but it is only a semester now, when I will take it. It’s 2nd semester so the teacher recommends that we take Constitutional Law or Political Participation our first semester so we have a full year of government, though.
