How many words is your ten dollar essay?

I got accepted ED and my essay ended up being 531 words.

accepted as well - 340 words for $10 essay

on the other end of the spectrum, i was accepted ED and mine was 1372 words. Really, as long as you say what you intend to and it is executed meaningfully, the length of the essay does not matter.

mine was 671, accepted ed
i agree with coolguy--length doesnt really matter

i got accepted with 720 words on my $10 essay. i don't think JHU cares that much about word limitation.

actually if u apply online, they have a cap on words
i think it's like 3500 characters
so when that happened, i just shortened my essay to fit the textbox

i applied to all the colleges with paper application. no word limit there. :) plus i had more control over my application so i really liked the paper app.

boo paper.

accepted bme -- 440 words

I'm applying to JHU in the RD round, and I have an essay already written, but it does not necessarily focus on my ECs (or really anything that pertains to school or outside of school activities). It's a day about sledding with friends. Bad idea?

sledding sounds like an awesome thing to write about.

my ten dollar essay is going to be art, i hope..

This is kind of unrelated, but how long are you guys' "most influential class" essays? I can't really see how one can write a full-out essay (like 500+ words) for that one? Who knows... mine is averaging at about 300.

mine was 260...

I think 300 words is fine. I've seen sample essays for this question (and questions similar to this one), and they all looked solid and said everything they needed to say without any extraneous creativity. Frankly, I think these are supposed to be as objective as possible, because adcoms shouldn't be trying to read between the lines trying to figure out your academic endeavors and inspiration, etc!

My influential class essay was 527 words, so both of my essays were around the 500 range.

my $10 essay is 563

is there any word limit for the favorite class essay?

The limits are the same for both. Whether or not you choose to follow it is up to you.

There are no word limits for the Hopkins essays. Do whatever you want!

The recommended length is between 500 - 750 for the $10 essay (if you submit a written essay) and between 200 - 400 for the fav. class essay.

But remember, there is no OFFICIAL world limit.

i'm stuck on the 10 dollar essay, but my most influential class is definitely one of the more creative out of all the ones they will read.

urr,, i kinda wrote like a short story for the $10 essay.

mine is about 3 pages....

I probably have to send my essay separately since I'm applying online and from what I've heard, there is word limit in the online app.
