Yeah I have just under 500 words. Is that too short too long or just average?

Any length should be fine as long as you develop your character and show the university what kind of person you are.

the website says 2-3 double spaced pages

hey this is kind of off topic but for the supplement essay should you write about a specific "cultural tradition" or can we just write about an experience in our personal lives in which we could contribute to the residential college system?

Read the question again, you can pretty much write about whatever you want as long as you develop a nice way to connect it to contributions to Rice. Good luck!

I wrote about like an experience, if that helps lol

well, I kinda did not address it fully. I basically told about my mission trip and how it changed me. No mention to Rice in any of my essays (except why Rice of course and what you want to study). I'm almost afraid that they will think badly of it because I did not directly say how I can influence the system.

You know, i go back and forth on that. I made mine pretty indirect the first time, told a story and then traced it back to Rice. But then, I got some feedback and changed it to be more direct. I fear mine will fall in with the rest of the generic essays, perhaps yours will stand out...

Mine's 500 or so.
