Hello,
I am looking to transfer from a relatively unknown 4 yr university down in Florida to some T30 schools, such as: UNC, William and Marry, Boston U, NYU, WashU, and so forth.
My HS gpa was a 3.479, and my ACT was a 29. I can superscore it up to a 31, but that’s with 3 tests and idk if colleges really even do it.
Anyway, for college I currently have a 4.0 for my 1st semester of undergrad.
I will be transferring in as a Sophmore as I am completing my freshman year right now.
My main motive to transfer is the lack of academic enthusiasm and how many people around me aren’t as focused as I am so I don’t get that I push that I want. Some of the teachers here too are also very bad and is at the heart of my transfer.
I have a really well written LOR from my teacher and I am looking to pursue a business degree or something related to that field.
Am I reaching too high now?
My main concern is my low ACT and HS gp.
Since you are transfering in as a sophomore they will consider your high school GPA and ACT scores. BU would be a match as would NYU, except Stern. UNC and William & Mary by law limit out of state enrolment. WashU and similar schools would be high reaches.
Do you have any budget limits? NYU is one of the most expensive schools, and does not promise to meet need. W&M gives max 25% in need based aid to OOS transfer students, and no merit.
Likely figured this was the situation. So, do you think I have a shot at BU or NYU? I would really need to get into BU b/c their program for what I want to do is perfect for me.
I do not have any budget limitations, so I’m just shooting apps to schools that might take me.
I don’t know what’s changed in the last 4 months, but if getting financial aid matters you need to target schools that offer it.
For some reason BU is a good transfer option. I know of several BU transfers who were not going to get in out of high school. It seems they are more accessible to solid transfers. It all depends on your grades this semester imho.
Yeah, actually, a lot has changed with my financial situation.
Oh okay, I’m not sure if I can get a 4.0 this semester one of my biology teachers is immensely hard, but I should be able to manage an A+ with my other courses.
