how low is too low for senior yr grades?

i know Ds/Fs are bad news, but what if you get a few b's (or maybe a c) when your usual gpa is a 3.99 uw??

even for really really competitive universities/programs? ie stanford/honors program in medicine etc.

A few B's and a C are fine. 3.0 unweighted and no D's or F's is a good rule of thumb.

B's and C's are fine for top schools? I really hope so...I might get 2 B's for the midyear report and I'm applying to very competitive colleges.

i really really hope so too. AP chem is kicking my buttocks.

Uummmmmmm.....

I'm sorry to break it to you, but Bs are really not alright at top universities. Here's why: Such competitive schools like Stanford and friends have so many applicants that if you're getting even one B, they can turn to a very similar applicant who is NOT getting a B... It sucks... but I'm afraid it's reality.

How does 6 As, 3 Bs, 1C look on midyear reports? (I took a couple of extra classes).

just get A's and B's and you're fine.

ok so A'S and B's are fine for midyear reports for even top schools??

you should really keep the same GPA you've been getting the past years, because if it drops then it looks kinda bad.

etti, is that W or UW GPA?
My weighted will probably be around .2-.3 higher than any previous semester, but UW will be .4 lower than I've ever gotten (all ap's this semester)

what about 4.0 -> 3.5 but taking 4 more APs senior year...
is this going to affect my admissions to top colleges????

According to JHU,

"As what constitutes poor grades, we will evaluate for a serious downgrade in performance. Typically this is seen in a number of C and D grades, as well as any failures. Having a mild case of "senioritis," struggling with a rigorous curriculum, or a slight drop in your typically perfomance (Bs now instead of As) is all understandable."

that sounds very generous, do other schools have similar outlooks?

I've never gotten more than 1 b each year in high school, but i got 3 b's senior fall.

that is generous

I have taken 6 APs this semester: 3 As, 3 Bs. At my HS this means a slight dip in UW GPA and an uptick in WGPA. My GC told me not to worry even though I've applied to a few most competitive schools.
