Hey, I was accepted to UMich this year (OOS) after being deferred for a little more than a month- I took 12 AP classes total throughout high school and will probably end up taking 14 exams total (including this senior year). Before applying to UMich I had scores of 4/5 in 6 exams. Hopefully this helps.
āFinancial aid came through with nice grant to help offset OOS cost.ā
I am glad to hear about aid coming through for your son. Perhaps Michigan is making more aid available now for OOS students. That was supposed to be a key part of the current endowment campaign.
Yes, pleasantly surprised. Middle class but in no way could have paid full tuition. Not even close. Will have a few in college so perhaps that helped.
Iāve been accepted! I scored a 29 with 11 AP classes out of a possible 13.
I think I took like 10, but half of the credits I transferred in from those were useless for me at UMich lol.
ACT was like 33 I think
I took 6 AP classes but only three AP exams and got 5,3,2. I was accepted EA last year. I also didnāt take any SAT2s. Iām not a minority or a legacy but attended school overseas and did some international internships. I also had awesome recommendations from my school. You donāt need stellar āstatsā. Indeed, if you read all the posts, youāll see that many with stellar stats are deferred.
@hailbate Did you apply to LSA?
@CEOSandeep Yes
I only took 1 AP class- AP Language because it was the only class offered at my school. I got in last year with a 28 ACT from out of state
9 AP Classes with seven 5s and two 4s, and then a 32 ACT.
I just got in. I took 5 AP classes and 7 Dual enrollment courses. My ACT score is 28 and Iām in-state.

Wrote excellent essays that demonstrated true interest in MI and the degree. I think that, combined with a good ACT and GPA got him in. He couldnāt be more thrilled
My S was rejected last year with 10 AP courses, 11 tests, Aās in all the AP courses, and he received scores of eight 5ās and three 4ās. 33 on the ACT. So thereās no magic number.
I was accepted Early Action on 12/18, OOS to Engineering. I took 1 AP class sophomore year and 4 AP classes junior year, but I self-studied an extra AP in my junior year for a total of 6 AP tests with all 5ās. Iām currently taking 5 AP classes as a senior, but will take 6 AP tests since Macro/Micro are combined for the class but separate for the exam.
got in EA from out of state with 34 ACT (35 superscore) and 13 AP classes (2 sophomore, 5 junior, 6 senior)
My daughter was accepted early for CoE. She had 0 AP classes and a 35 on her ACT. She did have 7 dual enrollment classes so far, with 4 more next semester.
@angelami Is your daughter from in state? If not, you should have her check the transferrable credit database to see if the DE credits are recognised by UMich. Otherwise, she may want to register for the AP exam still. UMich is very tricky for OOS CC credits. I know a girl from California with dozens of DE credits that none of them was accepted by UMich.
I took AP chem, calc BC, and physics C (mechanics only). I had a 31 on my ACT.
I am currently a senior in the CoE.
