So I’m currently in 3 AP classes as a sophomore and plan on taking 13 more in high school (+/- 1). I’m getting A’s in all of my current classes (knock on wood), but I have been getting w couple of A-'s. Anyways, does it look bad if I take 15 AP classes with some A minuses, as opposed to 14 AP classes with all A’s? Please note than an A minus is a 4.0 UWGPA at my school, but it still shows up as a letter grade of A- on the transcript. Rn my APs include:
AP CHEM
AP BIOLOGY
AP PSYCH
AP MICRO
AP MACRO
AP PHYSICS 1
AP HUMAN GEOGRAPHY
APUSH
AP ENGLISH LANG AND COMP
AP CALC BC
AP SPANISH LANG
AP US GOV
AP english Lit
AP PHYSICS C
AP STATS
APES
Total-15 APs along with other honors and accelerated classes (I.e. Multivariable Calc, Lin Alg, and Anatomy and Physiology, and Trig and Calc I)
Do you think that I should delete APES from this given the circumstances??
Thanks!
What classes do you have a genuine interest in?
How did you plan on organizing these classes (which classes would you take each year)?
How many AP classes does your school offer (not including arts or languages)?
It’s not necessary to take so many APs. You put down 6 social studies courses which is too much, you should take APUSH, but you need to eliminate classes you have less interest in or things like AP Human Geography.
You listed all the AP sciences, but you should take off APES. It’s possible to fit in the AP versions of physics, bio, and chem but you have to work hard and not procrastinate (as well as genuinely enjoy the class), otherwise you’ll be miserable. If you are determined to have AP Physics C then you could do:
11th- AP Physics 1 and AP Chem
12th- AP Physics C and AP Bio
or you could take a physics course over the summer and go straight to AP Physics C without AP Physics 1 depending on your school and prerequisites.
AP Stats is nice as an elective, but isn’t necessary since you can take it in college. You should take AP Calc BC.
Classes you should take:
AP English Lang
AP English Lit
AP Spanish Lang
AP US History
[insert another AP social science of choice here]
AP Chemistry
AP Physics 1 or C
[insert AP Bio and/or AP Physics]
AP Calculus BC
[insert fun and easy AP course here]
I’ve already taking APHG as a freshman and am in AP Chem and AP physics 1 as a sophomore. So, I was planning on doing Bio, Ap Lang, ap spanish language, ap calc bc, and APush as a junior and micro, macro, psych, physics C, us gov, and stats as a senior.
Thanks again!
And my school offers 34 AP classes…and I’m interested in all of the ones that I listed (except for spanish…but I don’t want to have to take that in college). Also, please note that I have to take AP Chem since I want to take that subject test and AP US Gov is a requirement to graduate,
If you are interested in these classes then I think you should go for it!
Good luck and be prepared to work hard!
