How many AP classes should I take senior year? + Loss of motivation

Right now, I’m a junior taking 4 AP classes (APUSH, Physics, Stats and Lang), and while I was able to get all A’s last semester I’m already off to a real rough start this semester (except with the 3 normal classes I’m taking which are a breeze), with only one class (Stats) I’m really likely to get an A in and the other three classes I could get an A in if I studied my butt off, which I honestly don’t really feel like doing at this point. I’m most likely eligible for National Merit, which can net me $30k+ right out of the gate at colleges I can easily admit too, so what’s the point in making all A’s? I have a 3.96 unweighted GPA currently and I don’t think it would kill me to slack off a little as long as I don’t get a C and do real well on the AP exams so I can get that sweet sweet college credit. Work smart, not hard. What do you guys think?

These are the 7 AP classes I’m thinking of taking. Feel free to tell me if I need to drop some: Gov/Politics (1 sem courses at our school), AB Calc, APES, Lit, Psych, and Human Geo.

This schedule looks very rigorous, however I see a couple of problems with your schedule compared to your post. First off, senior year is an important year because it is your last chance to show colleges that you are college-level material, therefore you may not want to take all those AP classes(especially sine your motivation is not there, meaning pick and choose about 2-4 APs and stick with those). Secondly, you will be doing college apps, ECs, etc. so choose again which ones you really way to take and which ones you want. Thirdly, I don’t see a foreign language so I assuming you took it in middle school and got to the fourth level by junior year, if no then add fourth year because colleges will be more impress by that(unless you really hate the language). Lastly, what is your major/interested in? DO NO TAKE THESE CLASSES BECAUSE IT WILL LOOK GOOD TO COLLEGES-TRSUT ME THATS WHERE I MADE A HUGE MISTAKE, so make sure these classes will be ones you like and think you will learn a lot from. Also, remember have fun, it is your senior year so have fun while it lasts!

This is what happens senior year: You are taking the most rigorous courses you have ever taken. You are a leader in your ECs. In the fall, you are filling out applications/taking the SAT/visiting schools. In the spring, you are getting bit of senioritis.

So you need to show colleges that you are taking a rigorous schedule without overdoing it. Also you want to make sure you can study and do well on AP tests and also get credit for them.

I would definitely take AP CalcAB and AP Lit. I would pick AP Bio, or Chem if you are majoring in STEM unless you are going into a Humanities.

I would pick 1 (maybe 2 if you don’t take an AP science) of AP ES, AP Human Geo and AP Gov/Politics

AP Psych is interesting and easy to do well on the AP test so you should take that.
