I want to go to an ivy league school and major in economics or finance. I'm a freshman and am planning out my courses for high school. This year I'm taking all honors classes except for English.
My grades are:
History: A/A-
English: A-/B+
Math: A
Science: A
Spanish: A

Number of AP classes I plan on taking: 7

Sophomore: AP European History

Junior: AP US History, AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry

Senior: AP Physics C, AP Spanish Language, AP Statistics

Number of AP exams I plan on self studying for: 2

Sophomore: AP Microeconomics

Junior: AP Macroeconomics

Other AP Classes My school offers: 11

AP Art History (not to artistic)
AP Calculus AB (taking BC which is harder)
AP Biology (love to take this class)
AP Computer Science (not my thing)
AP English Literature (not to much into poetry)
AP Environmental Science (not to environmental)
AP French Language (don' take French)
AP Latin: Vergil (don't take Latin)
AP Spanish Literature (only allowed to take one Spanish AP)
AP Studio Art (not good at Art)

Comparison: Taking 7 out of 18 AP classes my school offers but I'm going to self study 2 more AP classes my school doesn't offer

During Senior year I also will be taking Multi-Variable Calculus Honors. Some Questions I would like answers include: Is this enough AP classes or is it too much? Should I self study AP Micro/Macroeconomics or should I take other AP classes instead of it?

You should take more AP classes; 7/18 just won’t cut it. Maybe take AP Environmental Science your sophomore year along with Euro. APES is very basic. Perhaps Art History or Biology as well, but definitely not both in the same year. And AP Art History requires no artistic ability, so don’t worry about not being artistic enough.

I say just try your best. If you can take more AP’s and want to be more challenged, do it - but for the challenge, not college. You can always self-study more AP’s anyways. Though, truthfully, more AP classes (not necessarily tests) would look good.

+1 on Art History requires no artistic ability - or I would have taken it. It’s just a ton of memorization.

+1 on taking macro and micro together if your school offers it. My IB/AP Econ class does macro first semester and micro second semester and I don’t really see the point of stretching macro material for a whole year…

+1 on ECs, because they show that you’re actually capable outside of reading a textbook.
