It does not sound as hard as I thought it would be to get an AP award.

Yes, it's not that hard, it has more to do with how many exams you take versus how you score. The awards don't matter to most colleges either.

ahh sorry to use your thread...but i took 1 ap as a sophomore last year (5) and am taking 4 in school this year...which would bring the total to five. im pretty sure that i can get into the "AP Scholar with Distinction" category without much difficulty....does anyone think i should self study 3 more aps to try and get "National AP Scholar"? would the diffrence between the two awards be significant on a college app? sorry if i sound like one of those typical annoying overachieving kids, but ive been debating for awhile now. and i guess now would be the best time to make a decision

No way would I do that. I don't think it would significantly help your application. You're more likely to decrease your performance on the 4 APs because you have three more to worry about.

wow.....i dunno
but you know what, I am planning to take 6 aps this year, this is my junior year, so my last chance, I want to get a Canada national ap award, dunno if i will make it though...

my school only offers 3 aps i want to take the tests of, so i have to self-study 3 more, but chem is not really hard.. the ohter two are computer sci and european history.....

do you think its worth it?time+money......... provided i have enough time to deal with these tests

If you think you can make use of the credits...if the credits will serve you no use then don't do it just for an award. Also, the worst thing that can happen would be that you waste your time studying for extra APs, realize you're ill prepared, and end up losing time on the APs that really mattered. Think carefully when making the decision but know that this award doesn't mean much.

Canada AP award requires five exams passed with scores of 4 or 5, not eight. The eight is for US only. Therefore DinaZhang, you would only need to self-study for two exams, not three.

yeah......i know that already.......well, but i am pretty interested in euro history........though i know nothing about it..........lol...

and i will definitely take chem, and comp sci, lol.....i will see ..........

thank you guys.
