It probably varies in different colleges. But I have a friend at my state university who's taking 3 classes...

3 min to 6 max, but usually 4 to 5.

do labs count? I mean some classes meet only once a week and are therefore only 1 credit. Others meet 4 times/week and are 4 credits. Or at least that's the way it is at my city college.

Sometimes, the upper level labs are separate and count for 1-2 credits. Other times, they either account for 1 credit, or they don't count when the credits are based on lectures. Most of the time, they're part of the class.

In general, it's up to you.

Depends on the number of credits. Most classes (minus science classes because of labs) are 3 credits, and fulltime begins at 12, so 4 is the minimum and it can range between 4-6+. I'm taking eight right now at 19 credits and only one is a lab.

We require 32 total classes if you 2 have AP credits, which is 4 per semester for 4 years. I think you can take an extra class (or fewer if you get permission), as long as the total reaches 32 plus the AP credit.

4-6 a semester.

At schools with a quarter/trimester system (like where I am), its common to take 3 classes. Here, however, each class counts for only 1 credit (including lab sections/language lector sessions), and you need 42 to graduate, so the minimum is 3 classes half the time and 4 half the time. However, this may be an odd exception; we also aren't allowed to take more than 4 classes.

My college is weird. All classes except accelerated languages are one credit (yup, lab sciences are worth the same amount as a history class that meets twice a week), and we take anywhere from 3 to 6 credits a semester, even though 4 is definitely the norm. 6 would be insane, even though I know someone who is doing it. I'm taking 4.5 and I'm in serious academic classes for 20 hours a week, 21.5 if you count PE.

I think its usually 4 classes, 16 units. I'm taking 5-6 classes (including lab) 18 U.

At my school 4-5 courses (12-15 credit hours) is common. Some take 6 (18 credit hours - costs more - sometimes called overload), and some take 1-3 (part-time).

where i go to college fulltime is 12 units (which is around 4 classes) and this the norm for most. i am taking 5 classes at 3 units each.

I'm taking seven, but two are labs. (Chem, chem lab, bio, bio lab, first year experience, college algebra, english comp). The first year experience class is shorter than the rest, so it's only 2 credits as opposed to 3 or 4.

12-15 hours with 2-3 labs

4 classes is average, the least is 3 the most is usually 6. I usually take 4, occasionally 3 or 5.

At my school 12 credits is full-time and most classes are either 5 or 2 credits, so a lot of people take three classes and somewhere between 12 and 15 credits. I'm taking 21 credits, which is six classes - three 5 credit ones and three 2 credit ones. But then, I'm double-majoring, and one of my majors requires a ton of classes, so I don't have a lot of choice in the matter. I'm actually only taking one class outside of my majors, and I'm a freshman.
