Can I take 20 credits in my first semester at NYU? Do I have to pay extra? Is it like this in other schools? Thanks.

dude, why would you want to, chances are that you will have some ap credits and you only need 16 per semester to graduate. If you have 16 ap credits and take 16 credits per semester, you graduate a semester early. Why would one need 20 credits in one semester?

Because I want to study two foreign languages at once

you have to pay extra. your tuition only covers between 12-18 credits. dont you have a colloquium you have to take your first year that counts as 2 credits? in film we do. but anyway, littlebusrider is right. dont go for too much too fast. you're going to be adjusting to the city, being in college, having tougher homework, new people, etc, etc. if you want to take a lot of classes, dont do it freshman year. wait til youve gotten adjusted a bit or you will burn out and regret it later.

do you want o learn to just speak the language or literally study them? if the former, just do speaking freely

20 credits a semester is NOT recommended. I took 19 credits one semester, and my grades definitely took a hit. You do not want to be trying to sink your GPA your first semester of college. What are you trying to major in, and why do you want to take both languages at once?

Well i can speak russian fluently, but cant write/read that well, and I have been studying spanish for the past few years and have some college credit. I wanted to take Spanish, and Russian grammer and composition. I wouldnt have too much truble in either class i think.

Well, why not take both classes and two others? Do you need to take all five classes right off the bat?
