Is it true that you can only take up to 70?
I get different answers from many other different sources.
You can take as many units as you want, but only up to 70 can be transferred.

Although you will only receive 70 semester units (105 quarter units) of transfer credit from CCs, you will be counted as having subject credit for all applicable courses.

So,it’s okay to take courses over 70 UC-transferable units and the courses will still clear out pre-requisites.
For example, even after 70 units, Calculus 1 from CC will allow you to take Calculus 2. Nice.
Yes, http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/transfer/advising/transferring-credits/ says that “For units beyond the maximum, subject credit for appropriate coursework taken in excess of this unit limitation will be granted and may be used to satisfy requirements.”
