how many damn SAT II's are required??

i keep hearing 3, but collegeboard says that subject tests are merely 'recommended' for georgetown...

???

its 3. i dont know where you saw that the college board recommends 3 because gtown wants 3

according to an admissions guy i talked to, they "request" 3 but won't throw out your app if you absolutely can't get it together. apparently SAT IIs can only help you.

...not sure how correct this is though.

SAT & ACT Policies
For admission decisions:

* SAT Reasoning or ACT Required (ACT writing optional)

SAT Subject Tests Recommended

the way it is (to my understanding) is that you can apply and get in with less than 3 even though 3 are recommended, but before you can go you have to have 3. this doesn't make much sense, but it's how i've interpreted their wording.

EA you don't need any SAT IIs. By RD time though they want 3. You can get in without them, but I wouldn't try it.

Akajjred, do you mean that you wouldn't try without SAT IIs early either? I didn't know I was going to be applying to Gtown last year so I didn't take any. Do you think an 800 CR, 760 M, 4 of 465 rank, 4.0 UW GPA with 7 AP classes will outweigh the lack of SAT IIs for SFS?

No, you can apply EA without SAT IIs, but as I said if you're deferred I would take them. Of course those stats will outweigh no SAT IIs.

also if you get a bad score on an sat ii in a field that you will not be studying (like i received a 610 in bio-m) then they will not really look at that score very much. this is straight from the horse's mouth, because i asked them this question when i visited there.

From the Georgetown web site:
SAT II Subject Tests
All candidates, whether they submit scores from the SAT or ACT, should submit scores from 3 SAT II subject tests of their choice. The writing portion on the new SAT will not be substituted for an SAT II subject test score.
"Should" implies it's not strictly required, but I'd take it to mean, Do it.

Are the SAT II's required if you are applying as a transfer?
