How many did you skip on March 1 SAT?

ah i think i skipped too many...probably 5-9 in all....it was my first time taking it and i realized skipping one is equal to getting 4 wrong...geez...

also, what is the max score you think i can get for skipping that many?

Skipping one isn't equal to getting 4 wrong. Getting 4 wrong cuts off 5 points because the number of correct answers goes down by 4 and then you subtract 1. I think...correct me if I'm wrong...

I didn't skip any...I have an irrational fear of omitted questions...:p

you sure? i thought getting one wrong is 1/4 off...

if you fill in a bubble and get it wrong then its 1/4 pt. off but if you omit and don't fill in the bubble then you don't lose any points

oh and i omitted only one question.. last question of section 9 for CR

i know..so if i answered every single question, gettin four wrong would be the same as skipping one and not missing any?

true or false?

Yeah, it's 1/4 off if you get one wrong but it's basically like 1.25 off your raw score because they calculate raw score by subtracting the .25(# of incorrect answers) from the total number of correct answers.

Omitting a question subtracts 1 point from your raw score instead of 1.25...

how much can u omit and get wrong and still get a 600 ??

No, if you leave 1 blank you cannot get the point for that question which is like losing 1. If you get 4 wrong, you dont get the 4 points and you also lose another point.. or I guess if you get 3 or more wrong you will lose an extra point..

this is what 4 wrong would be:

skip 5 = 4 wrong

oh geez...so does that mean its better to answer all?

If you can eliminate a few answers, most of the time it is better to answer...

I believe i skipped one or two questions

the last SC in Section 6 or 7 i skipped... that's all i remember

oh geez...so does that mean its better to answer all?

the short answer? statistically, yes.

2 on math that I could not narrow even one
nothing on anything else

skipping means you lose that 1 point but no more...

getting something wrong means you lose that 1 point and .25 per question wrong...

Basically if you get 3 wrong you lose 3.75 which they will round up to 4 wrong for 3 questions...

you skip 3, that is only 3 points taken off.

And it is not good to answer all if you are just guessing. As long as you can eliminate 1 or 2 then it might be good to answer, but if you are absolutely, 100% clueless just skip it

It's worth it if you can eliminate it down to 2-3 choices

Let us say that there are 16 questions on a section

We will base this only the equation they use... #right-(#wrong times .25)

Skipping 1 will be a deduction of 1 because you are taking away from your number of right.

Getting it wrong will not only be a deduction of 1, but also (#wrong times .25)

E(x)=expected amount of points gained
E(X|0 eliminated)=P(Wrong)(-1/4)+P(Right)(1)=(4/5)(-1/4)+(1/5)(1)=-3/5 points
E(X|1 eliminated)=P(Wrong)(-1/4)+P(Right)(1)=(3/4)(-1/4)+(1/4)(1)=1/16 points

I guess you're safe if you eliminate 1?

does anyone know wat 6 wrong...inlcuding 2 grid ins and moit 3 on math is.....i no its terrible..i might cancel my score...i made the most retarded mistakes like plugging things in wrong and reading diagrams wrong. I amd a alot of really really retarded mistakes and im really ****ed off.

for the painter passage someone said they put admiration was the tone. i put affection because the author noted the flaws in the painter’s style, but was also respectful of his strengths. any thoughts?
