I’m currently a Freshman and am enrolled at Richard Montgomery High’s International Baccalaureate program (Pre-IB actually).
I currently participate in :

Don't overload-make sure you have enough time to be a good member.
I'm really not criticizing you-I've just seen it happen that a kid takes on too many time-intensive things, and ends up barely being a member in each.
It looks fine-try to get leadership positions jr or sr yr

Freshmen should not come onto CC. Please go and get a life and do things because you love doing them because isn't that what life is about, finding your passions? and don't do things just for college because if that's all you did by the time you're a senior you will think of your life as a waste.

PS There is no "enough." You could do a million things and not get in.

Get really involved in those activities, move up in ranks, take leadership, look out for opportunities that connect to these interests. Quality not quantity.

It's passion not numbers. What are you really passionate about? Get really involved, raise some money, do something cool outside of school, constantly be looking for opportunities to do something with your talents

They do, but they're not required and they're not going to help much if you don't do anything with them. Colleges appreciate it more if you show initiative by organizing something or changing your community even if you don't have a title. If you have a title and nothing else, it's still better than nothing. To really stand out, act!
