How many honors cords?

How many honors cords are acceptable to wear?

I know the default answer from parents is, "All of them! You earned them!" but at a certain point, is it ostentatious/silly looking?

Because I didn't double major, I took classes all over the place, and ending up qualifying for several departmental honors societies, as well as quite a few general academic honor societies. In the end, this amounts to nine honors cords, a medal, a stole and a hood. I mean, I'm very proud of these things, and the department honors societies in particular are very important to me, but will it be silly to wear them all?

I've been speaking with other friends, who are as every bit as academically accomplished as I am, and they have maybe one, two to wear. So I feel like what I'm (planning?) to do is somewhat abnormal?

My opinion: You only graduate once (post-undergrad not the same thing). Wear anything and everything you earned. When you look at the pictures with your kids or whatever, you will want them there.
