There's lot of talk going on about senioritis. As soon as someone is accepted by a university, they sort of start taking school work lightly. They slack. Senioritis that is.

All the ho-hum apart, how many of you are really suffering from it? Does it really happen or just that the media is going ga-ga over it?

What does senioritis feel like? What are you doing about it?

Senioritis comes after a long four years of working one's tail off. You're at the homestretch and have lost the motivation to move on. It has nothing to do with the person being lazy, but rather the person experiencing lazy tendencies. I went through it earlier, but fought it off and am back to work.

The feeling is just like "blah, I've already done everything I can, I need some rest".

*a long three years - or three and a half, as in my case

Although, honestly, my classes this year seem easier than last year's, so I don't have a hard time getting all my work in right now. As for next semester - I hear teachers expect more from us then. If that happens to me then I'll definitely subscribe to the senioritis movement. I do notice myself losing a tad of my enthusiasm for clubs, however.

i am sooooo tired of everything, in the mornings i have like no energy to wake up for school so i end up being like an hour late everyday. the work is way easier than last year but i dont feel like doing it because i have more important things like college apps to worry about it.

Hmmm. If a person values their education and likes to learn, then senioritis shouldn't kick in... at least, not until the last month or so of school. I haven't got senioritis. I feel really sorry for the people who do.

Yeah, anniushka's got a point. The main reason senioritis crept up on me is because I've already exhausted all of the math classes available to me (finished up to Calc II at the local college, and Calc III was canceled due to not enough enrollees). Not to mention that my Biology IB class (my second favorite subject) is practically a watered down review of my Biology class that I took at the college a few semesters ago.

For all those who are suffering right now, just shut off your computer and do something productive! All it takes is persistence and eventually you'll defeat it. Just keep telling yourself you're not done yet and only have a semester or two to go, might as well end with your head held high!

I agree as well with Anniushka; I dislike most of the subjects I am taking this year and care little about my extracurricular activities, so thus this year is incredibly boring. Add that to my desire to have some fun, something I have been unable to do for a long time due to parental and scholastic restrictions, as well as the ease of the classes this year (bar Physics and Economics, the latter having a textbook so boring I have never been able to read the assigned work in one sitting without falling asleep), and I have the perfect recipe for not giving a **** about anything this year.
