How many questions can you miss per section to get National Merit

To get around a 70 in each subject in the psat about a rough ball park figure of how many can you miss per sectin

Like i miss 1 or 2 in math
I miss liike 5 or 6 in writing

and i miss like 9 in reading

are those scores too bad to be around a 205?

seems like you're pretty good at math.. if you usually finish well before time is called, try going slower and checking your work, making sure you're not making any errors in mental math (you're allowed a calculator, so use it to your advantage). Missing 1 in math, and 5 in reading is a worse score than 0 in math and 6 in reading, due to the curve of the test.

If you can do that, you'll probably get about a 211, which is what I need for NMSF cutoff in MO.

remember though, a 205 or a 211 is not good enough to be a National Merit Finalist...

90% of Semi-Finalists become Finalists. As long as you make your state's cutoff, you have a chance at becoming a Finalist. A 205 or 211 can make National Merit Finalist. It all just depends on what state you live in.

Good luck!

ha, my state is 222-224 range. that wouldnt even be close here

Well heere in Mizzer-uh, we's bakwerds folk.

I was just pointing out that im incredibly unlucky with my state's cutoff dtran, but im glad to have learned about the Mizzer-uh culture. lol

I hope Florida's cutoff isn't too high this year.

Too bad I don't live in Alaska, West Virginia, or Wyoming. lulz

I live in Florida, too, so I hope I make at least 215, which is the highest cutoff I've seen recently. If I get a 220, I think I'm set.

Again, it really depends on your state.

By the way, as of this posting date, I hope you made the score for your state. At least you'll get a commended if you don't make NM
