If the schools you want to go to said 2, and you've taken 2 that you're happy with, then you're fine. Some kids take "extra" ones hoping to get better scores. Others are applying to schools that require 3.

Don't worry about it. You're all set.

Some schools require different ones - for example, MIT requires a math and a science, whereas some schools require, say, the writing, or a humanities subject. People taking more than two may be doing so to satisfy multiple schools with different requirements. If you've satisfied your schools with those two, you're fine.

Majority of colleges require and want none. Most high ranks either require or recommend them. Harvard, Princeton and Georgetown require three. All others that require them require only two. Stanford does not require IIs but highly recommends two and that one of those be Math IIc. Colleges may require certain IIs, e.g., MIT requires a math and science, and others may require certain IIs for certain programs, e.g., the engineering and science programs at a university may require a math and science while the rest of the university may have no specific subject requirement, so make sure you check on what any particular college requires. You need not submit more than required and, if your scores for required number are good, sumitting more doesn't add anything to your application; however, if you have a low score submitting more might help because college may consider only highest two for admission. Your two scores are probably good enough for every college that requires IIs.

thanks guys!

sooo

would you say that 800 in math IIc and 740 in chem is good enough for lower ivies?

i know my chem isnt stella, but should i retake it or should i retake my SAT I? (690 V 800M 680W)?

if i retake my SAT I i can probably get everything above 700.....which one is more important for me then? SAT I or SAT CHEM II?

THANKS!

My 800 in math IIC and 700 in molecular bio was good enough for MIT, so probably.

I'd say whether you should retake might depend on whether the schools you're applying to care about the writing score. Not all do, after all.

This will depend on the school. Try contacting individual admissions offices and asking them on which they put more weight.

I don't know what the usual curve is for the chem SAT II, but a 700 for bio-m put me above the 75th %ile (and bear in mind that only kids who consider themselves specialists in these subjects take the tests to begin with). If the chem test has a similar curve, I'm unconvinced that you need to retake it even for the sake of schools that put more weight on the SAT II.

thanks Jessiehl!

my percentile for SAT II chem is 80%, and i want to go into economics/business

can you tell me how i can find out if the school cares about writing seciont/if they care more about SAT II? what's the marjority? does the majority care more about SAT I (which is what i have heard)?

is there a thread on this forum that discussses SAT I Vs SAT II? if so i will search it out and read it

thanks!
