I am a Chinese high school student..and i am prepare for various tests like some of you..
I donna how many SAT Subjecct Tests/AP tests do your top students take?
I have a friend (she is in Princeton now) ,and she took 10 AP test when she was a junior(last year ) ..

10 AP Tests in one year! WOW! that is a bit overdoing it, don’t you think?

Among my friends, 9 AP classes (throughout the entire 4 years of high school) seem to be the average.

It really varies. Some top students don’t bother with AP tests/SAT II subject tests and directly go into undergraduate/graduate-level courses as high school students.

So, you have people like ^ taking a minimal amount of standardized testing. You also have the AP/SAT fanatics who take 20+ AP tests (or more if they know foreign languages) and 8 SAT II tests (or more if they know foreign languages) over the four years of high school.

Personally, I think taking 10 AP tests and 3-5 subject tests demonstrates enough capability. Of course, this varies based on how many AP classes are offered at your school, but most [top] students should be able to reasonably take all the math/science/English/history/government+econ exams with relative ease even if the courses aren’t offered. Similarly, most [top] students should be able to take most subject tests (not the foreign language ones) and do well.
