How many schools in all including EA/ED?
What are they?
How many essays in all?
How many of them accept common app?
How many Early action/decision?

I consider 8 a reasonable number - 1 EA and 7 regular.

Thoughts?

I’m applying to four schools: Cornell (ED), Yale, Arcadia, and St. Lawrence (last two are safeties). I think more than five is overkill, but I guess if you’re not totally sure where you want to go…

I’m applying to 9. I think it’s better to apply to at least 7 so that way you have more options…but that’s just my opinion.

I’m applying to 10 (it would be 9 but my parents are making me apply to a state school…in state obviously)
BC, Villanova,BU, Northeastern, UDel, Wake Forest, U of Richmond, William and Mary, Vanderbilt, and the state school
They all take the common app
Most of the supplements haven’t been released yet but I’ve seen 3 and 2 of them have one essay each.
Applying EA to all the ones that offer it and regular to those who only have ED or don’t offer either

I’m applying to 9 schools. 2 CSU schools, 6 common app, and 1 independent app. 2 EA schools, 1 rolling school. 3 (total) supplement essays to write – two of my schools have some cute quick takes that they ask.

All of them.

^lol
I’m applying to 5 schools: Notre Dame, Elon, Kalamazoo, SUNY Binghamton, and UC Riverside, all RD.
I might apply to other UCs & some Cal States.

This is really annoying me… so I’m going to ask:

The title of this thread is grammatically incorrect, right? Shouldn’t it be: How many schools are each of you applying to?

I just have to know. :p

Applying to a bunch: Yale SCEA, UF, USF, U of Chicago, Georgetown, Tufts, UPEnn, and more that I’m forgetting

You IS right eobaggs ;)

About 12 colleges. 7 reaches, 2 matches, 3 safeties

@Lifeofsolitude: Good to know, ha. I’ve always hated the word “each”.

And I’ll be applying to around 12 or so. 2 Safeties and the rest reaches. :D

11 - 4 reaches, 4 matches, 3 safeties. Could honestly see myself at any one of them, decision time is going to be really really tough.

14… D:

By the way, I think it’s “is,” since the word “each” is used. Barron’s ACT 36- “each is one body trick.”<–always corresponds to singular verbs ;)

No because the subject of the sentence is schools which is plural so it should be are
Each of you has nothing to do with the helping verb here

I’m applying to UPENN, Bradley, DePaul, & Notre Dame through the Common App so far. 2 other schools I’m applying to aren’t registered on Common App so gotta do that separate =/

Technically, this is still grammatically incorrect. You shouldn’t end a sentence with a preposition. :P

Really? Would you ask “how many schools are he applying to?”

The subject of the sentence is “each of you”, which is singular.

If only the OP had said, “How many schools are you applying to?” we would not be having this grammar war ;)

Personally, and grammatically, I think it should be, “How many schools IS each of you applying to?”

I’m applying to seven. U. of Alabama, Vanderbilt, Duke, Wake Forest, Emory, Tulane, and probably UNC-Chapel Hill. Tulane’s the only non-common app school. I haven’t seen some of the supplements yet but I know I have at least 3 essays between the common app, Duke, & UNC, and I’m sure Wake Forest has more too.
