How many times have taken the ACT?

I remember last summer I was studying for it so I could take it when school started but I got so lazy and never did and or signed up for the test. Then I wanted to take the February one but I missed the deadline and didn't want to pay extra to take it. So I took the June on and it was super hard. Does the difficulty increase as the years go by. My sister used updated books for herself and she got a 27 and got a ACT scholarship and a full scholarship to Emory. But a 23 in math. I wonder if I use her books will I do the same. How many times have you taken it and has the difficulty increase?

I have taken it twice. I didn’t do as well as I wanted to the first time around, (31E, 30R 31M, 24S). I don’t know if the difficulty has changed, but I felt that the math was a bit harder this time. However, I also felt that my recent math class REALLY helped me so I think my score went up. I felt science was about the same, (I was utterly confused and completely rushed, but I HATE the science section). I thought reading was normal except that I felt rushed and I normally don’t, but I still got through it and I feel like my score increased. I felt that writing was easier, and that my score went up. Pretty much, I don’t think tests change too much within a given year, maybe they change more over a wider range of time though. The “curve” or whatever is also always different and that takes into account the test difficulty. I wouldn’t worry about the tests getting harder. I would just study and try to do your best. You will kick yourself for not studying! I am doing that now, wishing I had placed more of an emphasis on looking over the ACT. When I went into the test the first time, I had never seen an ACT. I didn’t even know there was a science section.

SO… finally… don’t worry. Do your best. I hope you did well!
By the way, you should pray for me or something. I need a miracle on my science score. I think I pulled off 32-35 on my E, M, R, but I really want to get above that stupid 24… unfortunately, I think if anything, my score dropped. :)

good luck Anonymous?

She got a scholarship to Emory with only a 27?

Are you serious?

Yeah I didn’t think that sounded right either. Their ACT range is like 33-36… why would they give an ACT Scholarship for a 27?

I’m surprised she got accepted to Emory with only a 27, let alone get a scholarship.

Well she had a 31 in English and others were in high 20’s except math which was a 23 and she had a 4.1. She was waitlisted when she had a 22.

Was her scholarship based on merit or on need?

I took the ACT 4 times. I did my best the first time around, when I didn’t study or anything. Honestly, I had no idea what to expect from the test. The science section is insane (as we all know), and I got a 27 the first time. Every time since then I’ve gotten 23’s and such. I took them again in June, and am anxiously awaiting my scores. I used a 2008 Princeton Review this last time, and I’m not sure how much it helped me. I guess we’ll see at midnight.

I took it once as a sophomore, but I was so sick and it was for private school admissions, so it doesn’t count in my mind. Twice as a junior.

…and i’ll probably be taking it as a senior too. So depressing.

this was my 4th lol

I’m one and done
a 34 makes me happy

once. i will be taking it a couple more times before i’m done. hopefully i will improve!

Twice. 31 first time, 32 second time.

I’m considering doing it for a 3rd time, to improve on the sections which I consider to have been pretty brutal this time around.

First time–April-- I didn’t study and got a 24, second time-- June --I studied quite a bit and got a 28.25

Now I have to take it a third time so I can get my target 29 (It gives a half tuition scholarship to BYU.)

Way too many…

Took it twice.
April 2009- Just kinda woke up and took it. Composite: 32. Although I was epicly distracted due to the FRC going on… Ah.
June 2009- Second time’s the charm apparently. Composite: 35. Same strategy as before (just kinda waking up and taking it), but I just knew how to pace myself better this time and I didn’t have any important events that I was missing…

Six times (since 7th grade)! Going on a 7th.
