How many to apply to? Which ones?

I'm a junior in Florida
Ok so here are my stats:
ACT composite 33
Math 33
Reading 33
English 33
Science 31
Comb. English/Writing (8) 30

SAT combined 1990 (taking again in May)
Math 630 (trying to improve)
Reading 660
Writing 700

Will take Math 2 and Literature subject tests in June.

Unweighted GPA 4.00
Weighted GPA 4.65

Will have completed 8 AP classes by the time I finish HS (Eng Comp, Lit, US History, US Gov, Comp Science A, Microecon, Psych, Stat)

Have 2 varsity letters for baseball, 120-130 hours volunteer service, National Honor Society, Concessions Manager at local Little League (leadership), will join Mu Alpha Theta next year, maybe join one more club

I want to major in Computer Science or Software Engineering. My list of schools:
Reach:
UNC Chapel Hill
U Virginia
Georgia Tech
Michigan
Purdue
Miami (FL)

Fit:
Florida
FSU
NC State
Georgia
Auburn

Safety:
UCF
USF

Should I move any reach ones into fits or fits into safeties based on my stats? Really do not want to go to USF as I think I will get into better...

I am also considering others in the southeast. I also may end up majoring in Journalism/Broadcasting if I decide I don’t like Computer Science. Some of these schools are Missouri, syracuse, northwestern, and then also unc chapel hill and uf

FSU, NC State, Auburn and maybe UGA are all much higher than 50-50, probably borderline safeties or low matches. Maybe only FSU in-state is a complete safety. I would call Miami a high match (35-50% chance of admission). None of them are out of reach, but you should try to get each section to a 700 or so for UNC, UVA, and UMich.

@SurvivorFan I probably won’t even submit my SAT to them since I got a good ACT score for all of these schools. Thank you though

Sorry, I missed the ACT score. To be honest, I would (though I may be in the minority) recommend applying to all of those schools. Unless the application fees are a problem, there is no harm in applying to additional colleges.

If it is any help, I applied to 16 and there are three that I regret NOT applying to.

@SurvivorFan I have more on my list as well, and I want to apply to all of them as the more I do, the safer I feel. My two dream schools on here are UNC and UVA, and I have an uncle who went to Virginia. And money for app’s is not a problem.
But does applying to that many schools get very stressful and how long does it take? How should I approach all those applications and when should I start fillind them out?

It depends. The Common App helps, as the bulk of each application only has to be filled out once. Supplements are annoying, but they are often very similar. Miami does not even have one. Many of the state schools (but not UVa or UNC) will have separate applications, which can be somewhat time-consuming (though much can be repeated from the Common App- ex. South Carolina) or actually take 5 minutes (look at Alabama’s application- I don’t know if Auburn is the same way).

And all the essays for the common apps are the same? I know many will have slightly different topics @SurvivorFan

I guess I’ll just take it school by school
