How many units do you need to be considered a full time student?

How many units do you need to be considered a full time student? Thanks!

12 is the minimum.

really? i thought it was 13 for L&S students and 12 for engineering. then again, i think engineers are taking like 16 a semester so you shouldnt have a problem with that.

alliance, I believe you are correct.

A classmate from my high school who will be attending UCB this fall will take 24 units!!

Isn't there a limit at 21 or something?

Whatever, I'm doing the minimum the first semester

"A classmate from my high school who will be attending UCB this fall will take 24 units!!"

chances are he will be dropping a few. unless they are easy classes

There is a limit, but you can petition over that limit. 24 units is doable, but if the classes are tough it could be insane. Freshman have a lot of options to add in some extraneous units, e.g. decals and seminars, which aren't very difficult.

12 for engineers and 13 for everyone else - Alliance is right... except for the part about engineers taking 16 a semester (I've taken 13, 12, and going on 12 more!) hahah

Oh come on, engineers typically take 15-16 units each semester. Just because you're taking a light load doesn't mean others are.
