How many units should I take my first quarter?

I am going into freshman year with 28 units and I would like to graduate in exactly 4 years. I was looking at the graduation requirements (min 180, max 200) and realized I can't take all 16 unit quarters and I could be fine with just a few of them. So for this first quarter I was wondering if it would be better to take 17 units (16, plus a 1 unit seminar) or 13 units (12, plus a 1 unit seminar).

I'm not sure this made sense... but I hope it did!

Can’t go wrong either way, but if you enroll in 4 classes you can drop one if it is too much work. It’s better than taking 3 classes and wishing you enrolled in a 4th, if that happens.

I don’t mean to derail this thread but how do I tell how many units each course gives?

^When you look at the class descriptions, it’s the number in the parenthesis.
