How messed up are these college decisions?!?!?!

I think it all depends on what the particular college looks for.. One of my friends got into MIT, but did not make it into Cornell... lol

washu - downgrade

cornell - upgrade!!

I agree completely!

Not surprising. As an undergrad, I got into 10 of the 11 school I applied to, including 4 Ivies, Duke, Georgetown, Cal, Michigan, Chicago and Northerstern. My sole rejection was...UNC-Chapel Hill. State schools like UTA, UNC, UVA and the UCs are very tough on out-of-staters.

UCSB out of state?

I can't see why anybody would apply to UCSB as an out-of-stater; or any of the UC's for that matter unless we're talking UCLA or Cal...

Was there a special reason why you applied there? (liked the weather, relatives, family etc?)

Actually, UCSB is top 20 in Engineering and Physics, the campus in located on the beach and the weather is perfect. It is a very legitimate university.

aka party school

btw, I got in!

Totaly agree with everyone here.

I got rejected from MIT and accepted to WashU and RPI same day i got MIT decision. I spent so much time on that application and I wanted to go there so badly since i was like 8.....
I was lazy in 9th grade but then i picked up the pace and racked a decent number of engineering/science related things on my resume... some other stuff too... and then I see people in my own school who are absolute noobs at science being accepted into MIT.

w/e.... cornell engineering was up there for me too. now its my top choice. SCREW U MIT!!! haha

MIT's no fun ne ways :p

I disagree with Vbear. I was accepted at UCLA and I live in Illinois.

ya dfntly sucks for you guys! seems so unfair! i got guarunteed into ucsb only because of my grades (top 4%)...they didnt even bother to see my crap act/sat scores.or ANYTHING else...i got the letter in like September! and i doubt ill get into cornell...

Last year I got accept to Cornell and NYU, waitlisted at Colgate. Go figure. Not a big deal, since I really wanted to go to a huge school (hence the first two), but still, it was very weird.

...very messed up lol

A friend of mine was accepted to NYU but rejected at UCSC

It is stupid, I was deferred EA from Boston College, but accepted for Cornell bio. I am pretty annoyed, but I would choose Cornell any day.
