I just have talked to someone today cuz I need to set up a plan founding an organization on campus. My initial idea is recruiting some intelligent ppl for the organization. But I was warned that is not feasible cuz most high gpa students are not motivated. The relationship between GPA and motivation is like bell-shaped curve, generally the mid-range population are the most motivated pupulation.
I do admit most of the time I am not that motivated but I do doubt the theory of bell-shaped curve. cuz I'm applying transfer to another school next semester so I really want to do something meaningful before I leave. Perhaps that is the source of my motivation though...

Enough to get by, not enough to get the most out of an education. I still have problems with taking the path of least resistance and procrastinating; trying to know the material just for a test, and not truly understand it for future reference or whatever.

that’s weird. highest gpa people aren’t motivated? they must be or they wouldn’t have a high gpa! maybe it’s just because they don’t have time to do other activities because their schoolwork consumes their lives.

getting on topic…i’m very motivated considerably more than high school

as a cc student for now, i’m not as motivated as I should be. It’s difficult to think about excelling when I can’t WAIT to find out what other schools will accept/reject me. this is at the moment.

there’s 2 types of people with high GPAs: people who are highly-motivated (not necessarily smart or not smart), and people who are just very smart slackers
