Nothing wrong with drinking, but if you're trying to figure out your tolerance, do so slowly - space out your drinks, essentially.

I am a firm believer that one shouldn't have to rely on chemical substances (alcohol, drugs, etc) in order to be liked by someone or fit into a group. If you have to go out and consume a product that changes the way you think, then I think you are a pretty pathetic, and quite frankly boring, person. There is a reason that the drinking age is 21 - studies have shown that humans' brains aren't fully developed until their early twenties, i.e. chemical substances like alcohol can hinder the brain's development.

tahitiKO you are an idiot.

In the past three years in my town, there have been 6 teenage deaths, all alcohol-related. My high school has 600 kids. So that is a pretty big portion that had their lives destroyed.
In the past three months in a neighboring town, there have been four.

Not all drinking is equivalent. The second story is outrageous, and I think you probably realize that will probably not happen to anyone on CC.

The truth is drinking is not bad. Drinking irresponsibly, just like doing lots of other things irresponsibly, is bad. It's a lot more dangerous than other things done irresponsibly.

Drinking underage doesn't necessarily make it any less responsible. The thing is, underage people are required to hide it, so you have bad situations of drinking behind closed doors, and people who need help getting none because others are worried about getting in trouble.

If you drink in moderation, nothing bad will happen. You may make some bad decisions, but for the most part if someone does not want to do something while sober, they will probably not want to do it until they are really drunk.

i agree with ruca, people have been drinking to lower their inhibitions and have more fun for thousands of years, alcohol is one of the more beautiful things in life, all thanks to Saccharomyces cerevisiae i love you you sweet microbe.

have a bottle of everclear, that would start me. ^^

just one bottle of everclear? whats that gonna do? :)

It depends on the atmosphere and whether or not I want to get drunk. A lot of it I believe, is psychological. I've had times where I've taken 9 shots and felt only a little tipsy. Other times I've had 6-7 beers and have been out.
