İ Got 1700 from My first test 500 720 480 with studying Like 3 hours.how much can i hope to improve this score from A realistic perspective. Im from outside of us
@gao8e7 You say you scored 1700 with 3 hours of prep, yet your other threads from awhile ago say you got a 1950, and you are aiming for 2200-2300. So I’m a little confused.
I hope you are aware of the new SAT coming out, so if you decide to take it, you should use preparation materials designed for the new SAT.
Yeah the 1950 mentioned in the previous thread is A ‘test’ one not the actual SAT.And i also still aim for 2200 ish but i lately think that it is not realistic, optimistic at Best.I Just wanted to find out what is the score increase avarage guy comes up with so thats why i started this thread.sorry for the confusion
I personally opted to take the ACT instead of the SAT because I felt that it was friendlier to non-native speakers.
The real question is, how much time are you willing to invest? Are you one of the people who will spend month memorizing 5,000 vocab words and working through 50 sample tests, or do you want to take 2-3 practice tests and call it a day? Some international students have done very well (close to perfect scores) thanks to A LOT of preparation.
@gao8e7 For a start, the new SAT is out of 1600.
Well that is if you choose Not to take the essay section which Will probably Come in handy when applying to unis dont you think?By the way thanks for your time and answers. So, how much score increase is in My grasp say i ll study Like 3 months with avarage work in it in your opinion?
Thank you for your time aswell. How much do you think i can improve with regular study in 3 months
@gao8e7 The essay will be graded separately (source: [here](https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/scores/understanding-scores/structure)). It may or may not be required by any universities you are applying to, so you should check that yourself.
I can’t really say because 1) the new SAT has not been administered yet and so there is no reliable data, and 2) it varies from person to person and also on how much effort you’re willing to put in.
I suggest working on your English skills (it is a hard language!), as proficiency is extremely important when taking the SAT, and it’ll be much harder if English is not your first language.
As b@rlum said, you can also consider the ACT.
It really depends on you and your strengths and weaknesses. I’d imagine that e.g. a lack of SAT-specific vocab would or running out of time would be easier to remedy than a lack of understanding of the nuances of the English language.
I raised my ACT Reading score from 26 points (78th percentile) to 34 points (98th percentile) with a moderate amount of practice, so it is doable to make ‘significant’ gains.
Thank you all for your time and answerd indeed.
