How much COULD legacy help?

Hi, I’m a rising senior at a competitive public high school (Maryland).

I struggled with dyslexia, although I was not diagnosed until freshman year.

Because of this, I have a 3.6/3.8, unweighted and weighted.

I also have a 1440. I received a little extra time (I qualified for extra time with dyslexia).

I have many EC’s, including band, cross country, and I also have multiple leadership positions. On top of that, I am in Venturing (BSA), and have received the Summit Award, similar to Eagle Scout.

I also have a legacy (one parent) to Notre Dame. If I ED, do I have a chance? How much would legacy help me?

@notredang In 2018 the legacy student admit rate was 36%, as opposed to the general admissions rate of around 15%. Notre Dame SAT Range (Mid 50%) is 1410-1540. Notre Dame does not offer Early Decision (ED) the ND early application program is called Restrictive Early Action (REA):

@hpcsa Thank you! Good to know.

Legacy is also a huge help because you know the ND culture really well. Use that to your advantage in your essays.
