How much do colleges analyze the SAT?

If someone gets say a 2250 the first time they take it but get a 2150 the second time, would that "discredit" the first?

The number of times you take the SATs usually is not very significant. Colleges look at your highest SAT score.

The number of times does play some kind of role, especially at the competitive schools when they’re comparing you to other applicants and you have almost the exact same stats, except you only took one time to get the 2400 while the other applicant took four.

bumpppppppppppppp

What I’m asking is:

If I get a 2250 on my first test and got a 2150 (lower scores in each of the sections) the second time, would that in anyway harm my 1st score?

It, in theory, shouldnt hurt you. Of course, colleges that do require you to send all scores will see the lower 2nd score, but they should not take it into account. With that said, I believe that they will think its wierd you went down and could hurt you slightly, but it isnt really a big deal…

They’ll probably just think you were sick that day or something. Don’t worry about it too much.

if you’re applying to schools with score choice, you don’t have to report the second sitting. You can just leave the self-reporting section blank on the common app.

Stop worrying.
