Hi
I am currently a student at NYU, applying to numerous schools for transfer. My college GPA is 3.675, ACT score is 33.
My question is about the midterm report. I have a 4.00 on the report and will be sending it to Vanderbilt, Brown, Nortwestern, and UVA. I was wondering how much weight colleges actually put on this report?
I was hoping that the Midterm report would help me, as my high school GPA is not great. Do you think that colleges view the midterm report as an important factor in transfer admissions, even though its not official transcript grades?
Well its just an addition to your overall cumulative college GPA, and if you had a 4.00 on it, its certainly not going to hurt you in sending it to them, in fact it will probably help you just because it raises your cumulative GPA. It doesn’t really matter that it’s not “official”, they’ll take your word for it because they know that they will eventually get your final report from the school you are transferring, and if they see any discrepancies between the mid term report and your official final school report…well obviously they wouldn’t be happy .
When they are looking at GPA, do you think they average your first semester and mid term report to calculate an overall GPA to evaluate your application with?
IF they were on the fence about admitting you and then they saw you had a 4.0 for your mid-term report that might give you a little push to getting admitted. But there isn’t really a point speculating on such a thing that you have no control over my friend. What happens in the admissions happens. A mid-term report isn’t set in stone, and as my economics teacher is all too fond of reminding us: Don’t slack off there’s still plenty of stuff to fail.
Probably very little since it doesn’t change your cumulative GPA. If you have a high midterm report, it will help you very minimally if at all, but if you are failing in your midterm report, then it might affect you.
