Hi everyone, so I really want to go to Northwestern University or Carnegie Mellon for engineering. I had a terrible freshman year with a 3.24 GPA. If I keep my grades up for the junior year, my accumulated GPA should be a 4.04. Here are my individual GPAs by year
Freshman: 3.24
Sophomore: 4.18
Junior (assuming): 4.69
Comparing how I rank with the rest of my grade, the top of the class has a 4.31. My schools don't display the individual rank and the percentiles. So my question is, do I have a chance at the top schools? We have a strong school system and many of our students go to good schools every year. How much do freshman grades count? And does my huge growth make up for my freshman grades?

I had a 3.0 gpa in high school classes in middle school and 3 Bs junior year. Got a full scholarship to Carnegie Mellon Dietrich + computer science and Northwestern. You’re good, just keep at it and don’t slip again. Upward trend will make up for the slack, try to get in the top 5% still.

Anyone else? More feedback please

Bumpity bump

Please. I’m freaking out

CMU doesn’t (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/carnegie-mellon-university/1123944-does-cmu-count-freshman-year-grades.html), not sure about Northwestern, check with the website and your counselor
