How much do I need to memorize for SAT Chemistry...*and other things to be asked*?

Is 720 bad for Barrons? I never got higher than 720…So sad. :((

The depression starts to set in…

How do you convert?

@seyll00 Convert what?

How do you convert the raw scores to scaled?

@seyll00 If you have the Barron’s book there are converting charts after each practice test. If you did another sort of practice test you can google something like “sat chemistry raw score conversion” and find some charts.

@Faultystart I’m also taking the SAT Chemistry in June- took Princeton Review tests (because I heard they’re the best prep books for chemistry) and got a 790, 770, and 780. Any idea how these compare to the actual?
Additionally, are there any rote memorizing things you would recommend to look over? Like solution colors, flame test colors, and precipitate colors, to name a few.

Do all of the organic chemistry structures have to be memorized? Or are most of them not tested?

@drakonus I’m not quite sure, sorry. The results from May haven’t come out yet and I didn’t use Princeton Review to practice.

Flame tests colors is a good one, I don’t think precipitate colors will be super useful, and it may help to know some solution colors (like Zn2+ is a colorless, clear solution but Cu2+ is a blue solution). Solubility rules is another I recommend if you have the time to memorize them.

@ICE3 I looked over how to identify the diffrent organic structures in the Barron’s book, but I don’t think there were many, if any, organic chemistry questions.

Only a few more days!! Best of luck guys!! Kill ittt!!!

Is 800 with raw score of 80 in Princeton Book bad or good?

I’m not very hopeful of seeing another score like that in the two remaining practice tests I’m about to take.

@1618dz I’m going to start taking Princeton today. But people said that the tests were pretty easy.

Is the curve for SAT Chemistry that harsh? I skipped 1 and got three wrong for Princeton. The raw is 80. Then it becomes 790 on College Board Curve? So sad…

I got 750-760 on the last Princeton SAT II Chemistry test…Is this bad? Is Princeton’s similar to the actual thing? Is it easier? Will I fail???

@1618dz First of all, stop freaking out so much. 750+ is already a good score. PR tends to be similar to the actual test. If you haven’t already, I suggest you check out the practice questions on the collegeboard website

Would anyone recommend memorizing the activity series. Or is it enough to know that Zn reduces Cu and gold is very unreactive???

GPS MCBAH LIZ AMC SP. That’s the way I memorized a simplified list for activity series

Gold, platinum, silver, mercury, copper, bismuth, antimony, hydrogen, lead, iron, zinc, aluminum, magnesium, calcium, sodium and potassium. I think there’s also rubidium and lithium after that.

@JuicyMango I don’t think you really need to memorize the activity series. Just know the generalization (gold is unreactive, etc) if you really feel you need to memorize something.
