This summer, going into my senior year, I’m planning on taking a class at a local university and also a class at Summer@Brown online. I was wondering how much difference an internship makes in regards to college applications. Will it drastically increase my chances of acceptance? Would getting a normal job this summer look just as good?
You indicated on another thread that you do ballet 20+ hours/ week. Doing a ballet summer intensive would add more to your application than university classes or a normal job, imo.
Close to zero. Most “internships” that HS kids get are not real internships. They rarely involve any substantial work - HS kids just don’t have enough education yet to be very helpful in most cases. Colleges know that, too. They take “internship” with a grain of salt on a HS resume.
@bouders Ok thanks for your advice. I’m planning on doing a SI with my ballet studio (its required), taking those classes, and probably getting a job.
